How To Choose an LCD TV Wall Mount

You've bought a new LCD television that you want to wall mount. But how are you supposed to know what is the best mount for what you want? The following article lists some things to keep in mind when looking for an LCD TV bracket.

At one time, each TV and wall mount manufacturer used their own system, so it was much harder to find out which mount went with what TV. Currently, each manufacturer has agreed on a core mounting system and this permits consumers to buy wall mounts that are universal. This not only saves you both money and time, but the pre drilled holes at the back of televisions make mounting them far less involved than it used to be.

Once you open up your garden-variety universal TV wall mount kit, you will see a wall plate that attaches to the wall and brackets that go on the back of the TV. The TV wall mounts are designed to fit the holes that are pre drilled in the back of the TV display.

Keep in mind that even though the TV mounting kit is universal in its hardware, there are options for mounting out there that you'll want to think about prior to getting one. As an example, if what you want is the cleanest overall look, go with the basic, standard TV wall mount. The standard TV mount should keep the television within one inch of the wall. You should keep in mind that, with this type, the TV cannot be tilted at all so you will have to be mindful about where you mount it on the wall, being sure to consider where you want the main viewing area to be.

If you are thinking that you'll want to alter the angle of the TV, then you will need to get a tilt wall mount. The style is much like the standard model, but the TV display is held a little bit further away from the wall. The extra space allows the display to be tilted. The tilt's degree will vary, depending on the manufacturer and model of the wall mount.

If you opt for the tilt style you'll need to think about how the wall mount moves. A few wall mounts can move with only your hand since it moves on a ratchet system. There are additional models that require a special device to be used to move the angle of the television. If you think you will be moving the display every so often, it might be worth the extra expense to get the ratchet system for efficiency and accessibility of the movement.

If you prefer to be able to move to various places in the room and not sit on the very same place on the sofa each time you watch television, you may want to purchase a TV wall mount that lets the TV be be moved out from the wall and swiveled and tilted for virtually infinite positions. These are called cantilever wall mounts.

So, when you're in the market for TV wall brackets, make sure that you think about each area the TV will be seen so you can get the one that is going to work the best for you.
